The technical (feature) spec for Version 1.0 of Ideologi's web application software—Nexus—is complete! It's over 120 pages and includes screenshots and descriptions for all of its functions. The benefit of developing a formal spec (as opposed to tinkering) is that the excercise revealed flaws, contradictions, and areas of incompleteness in the way in which Ideologi was originally conceived. That's not to say that the application will now be flawless on Day 1, but it does mean that a lot of potential confusion during the initial programming phase will now be avoided.
I'm now in the process of developing a prototype of the application using Ruby on Rails. Once it's completed (this Fall?), I'll make it available for public testing on this site. Let me know if you are interested in providing guidance during its development or volunteering to use it when it's ready.
